UNITE TO FIGHT TPP!
Millions of jobs threatened by a new corporate treaty!
The Trans-Pacific Partnership is a new trade deal that is now being presented before Congress. It has been called "NAFTA on Steroids" which would bring together 12 countries bordering on the Pacific Ocean, including the United States, in an agreement that would negatively affect workers and ordinary people in all the countries involved.
TPP would mean GMO (Genetically Modified Organism) foods could be exported without governmental limitations. It allows companies to relocate job producing facilities without any restrictions to countries with no or weak unions, leading to a "race to the bottom" as companies push for the lowest wages possible. Would isolate China, which has not signed on to the agreement, and this is perceived as part of an attempt to encircle China and Russia,  militarily and politically, furthering Cold War objectives that destabilizes the world's economy and livelihoods of all workers globally. The TPP would invalidate environmental laws, claiming these to be a restraint on trade.

A UNIVERSAL CALL TO ACTION!
ONLY MASS ACTION IN THE STREETS WILL STOP THEM!

NAFTA / CAFTA / KOREA US FTA BARBARISM FUELS OPPOSITION TO NEW NEO-LIBERAL TRADE DEALS: TPP, TTIP, CETA TIME TO HEAD TO THE STREETS!
- NO Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP)
- NO Trans-Atlantic Trade & Investment Partnership (TTIP)
- NO Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA)
The world economic system is realigning itself. Corporations are seeking more profits.

The recent vote in Britain to exit the E.U. passed by over a million votes. The majority of these votes came from working class people. It is no wonder that the trade union movement continues to have seething anger over the NAFTA, CAFTA, and KOR-US trade deals. The corporate cabal supporting NAFTA has blatantly broken the grand coalition’s promises. Many of the corporations that only a short time ago were extolling the benefits of NAFTA for U.S. workers and communities have cut jobs, moved plants to México, or continued to violate labor rights and environmental regulations in México. Politicians are making the same promises today.
The capitalist economic crisis is not something sudden and unexpected. It is neither the first nor the last. Any recovery will be anemic. The capitalist mode of production cannot exist without the violent manifestation of increasingly larger and more destructive crises. Overcoming the current crisis, if and when it occurs, will be anemic and temporary and simultaneously will prepare the conditions for a new and a deeper crisis. This is the irreversible course we are on. The WFTU demands that we change course immediately by protesting in the streets and declaring our steadfast opposition to these corporate gaveaways!

FROM NAFTA TO THE TPP, CETA (Canada), & TTIP -
Mainstream political parties in Canada, US and Mexico support these deals. They are totally out of touch with workers and their families. Only Street Demonstrations can knock some sense into them.
The WFTU has an anti-monopoly, anti-imperialist, anticapitalist program. We are building a universal movement of fighting trade unions. Beginning this fall, and continuing every week we need mass action in the streets again stausterity and greed. Look at the heroic example of the French workers in Marseilles, the militant workers of Greece (PAME) and the educators in Oaxaca, México. We must organize ourselves like workers have historically, and continue this battle in the streets!

WFTU PROGRAM -

- Class oriented
- Anti-capitalist

"ONLY MASS ACTION IN THE STREETS WILL STOP THEM"
A special message from Dr. Frank Goldsmith:

NAFTA, CAFTA and KORUSFTA -
In the United States, both mainstream political parties are committed to gaining profit security for capitalists.  They may do it in various ways, but ultimately, they agree that, for example, international trade deals must take place to guarantee the profit security for U.S. bankers and manufacturers.  That means the use of their international power through the International Monetary Fund [IMF] and then the use or threat of interventions via NATO in Europe and direct intervention when the IMF and NATO show their limitations.   A relatively new wrinkle in this form of imperialism is the arrogant labeling a country as undemocratic and its democratically elected leaders not worthy to hold office; and declare the need for a “Regime Change.”   The case study of Ukraine is a barbaric horrific example.  But, throughout the Middle East, that same formula is in play.   Central and South America are always targeted.
The continued encirclement of China and Russia for crass imperial economic/political reasons threatens world peace. Democratic Party president, Bill Clinton’s first open gift to its corporate and Wall Street funders was the 1993 NAFTA deal.   His election was supposed to bring a “gift” to the U.S. trade union movement.   This cynical, yet logical trade move, by Clinton came after the U.S. trade unions were the most important mass on- the- ground force to get him elected president. The working classes of Mexico, Canada and United States continue to suffer from NAFTA.  On the other hand, the beneficiaries are U.S. banks and manufacturers.
The AFL-CIO was left holding a bag of empty promises and the meager crumbs of compromise that their loyalty to the Democratic Party allowed. CAFTA, the Central American Trade Deal and the Korean USA Trade Deal, which infuriated the Steelworkers and their union, followed NAFTA.

TPP, CETA and TTIP
The current Democratic Party president, enabled by corporate Republicans, is following Clinton’s example, in a straight jacketed Neo Liberal style. Our political leaders are now on a road to get 2 major capitalist trade Deals:  one in Europe, the TTIP, and one from the US through most of Asia: the, TTP.
While the trade union and political movements have not linked these two major trade deals; the U.S. president sure has.  He has just completed a far reaching European and Asian tours to solidify both. This is the Democratic Party’s gift to Wall Street and other capital players for their last 8 years in office.  They served them well.
Democrats Deliver; just not to those who got them elected by their votes. North of the US, Canadian trade unionists are fighting against the CETA trade deal [Canadian European Trade Agreement] which if passed will be intertwined into the European TTIP deal Trade unions are opposed and major Canadian organizations, like the Council of Canadians, are opposed and fighting against CETA.

WFTU Opposes Capitalist Trade Deals -
The World Federation of Trade Unions [WFTU] fully recognizes the historic “over- the- barrel” positions that mainstream trade union find themselves in.   They plead for concessions from their Political Party, the Democratic Party; and they get some minor environmental controls and very poorer job protections. The rhetoric from the trade supporters is always flowery and hopeful.     And, WFTU recognizes that these trade unions do active work in legislative bodies to oppose there anti worker deals.
But, there is a stubborn refusal to take to the streets.   In an election period, such as the one we are in now, there is a fear of losing national and local elections.   Too many believe that the neo-liberal model of development is the only way to go.  Social media; press statements; or even, heavily researched studies won’t stop the corporate trade juggernaut. Blanket, open opposition to the TPP, CETA and TTIP is the only strategy.  Fighting for small concessions to get better either current or future trades deals has been and will continue to be a lose/lose strategy.

International Trade Union Solidarity -
WFTU believes that international trade union solidarity is a prerequisite to fight the barbaric policies of the IMF and related financial organizations; and, to end the tyranny of NATO and US military might.
The heroic struggles of the French trade unions against the French Socialist Party’s anti-worker and anti-union legislation has kept millions in the streets over the past weeks.   The working class vote in England to leave the European Union; lead by the 80,000 member RMT (Rail, Marine and Transport] union; and the heroic teachers in Mexico fighting neo-liberal anti teachers’ legislation of the PRI Party are a couple of examples.  Mick Cash, General Secretary of the RMT said it best: “RMT is proud to stand up for the tradition of progressive and socialist opposition to the European Union, an organization wedded to privatization, austerity and attacking democratic.”  The EU is the seat of neo-liberalism of Europe and the key partner of their US counterparts.

ALL OUT SEPTEMBER 17! NO ANTI-WORKER TRADE AGREEMENTS! NO TPP / TTIP / CETA!
